Business improvement starts with diagnosis- the hardest part! Talksense uses private equity methodology (developed as a tool for investment decisions) as a springboard for business improvement.
Talksense interviews senior management and employees, analyses historic and forecast performance, visits stakeholders (investors, funders, and strategic partners) and customers and suppliers. This process is rapid (2-3 weeks) and focused. An objective, opinion-led viewpoint is then delivered to the Board, the purpose of which is to allow the business to discover itself through the eyes of an experienced and thoughtful investor.
We articulate what is attractive and impressive about the business, and conversely what is negative or off-putting. We express an opinion on the quality of the management, the quality and alignment of the shareholder base, and the appropriateness and stability of the funding structure. We highlight what we believe to be the critical issues. The appraisal is succinct, thoughtful, and untainted. The aim is to be insightful and challenging, even at times discomforting but above all to provide a framework that allows the business to move on.
Talksense then works with the management of the company to convert the analysis into a set of needs, objectives and priorities, all of which need to be articulated and sorted into order of importance. This process generates important choices and Talksense then works with the Board to make the right decisions, and to convert these decisions into an action plan, comprising clear and quantifiable objectives, timelines and individual tasks and responsibilities.
NXPlus
Talksense is also responsible for NXPlus, a confidential forum where business leaders can discuss their issues and opportunities and receive impartial, dispassionate and wholly practical advice from the collective wisdom and experience of fellow delegates.
